Run in America’s largest backyard!
Coming to Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC on March 3, 2013
iDaph events presents a 26.2 mile racing event, unlike any other, taking place in Asheville, North Carolina at America’s largest backyard on Biltmore Estate. Inaugural Asheville Marathoners will wind through hardwood forest, meadows, crackling gardens, and brand-new views of the Biltmore estate on Sunday, March 3rd, 2013 at 7am. Runners will traverse over paved and dirt roads including running in front of the Biltmore house, by the lagoon and through vineyards on the west side of the estate. The breath-taking marathon course is gently rolling to flat and will be an unforgettable, well-supported marathon experience.
The Course

Asheville Marathoners will experience a couple of tall hills before mile eight and the remaining journey is a mixture of valley and rolling terrain. Beginning on-road near Antler Hill Village area, runners will climb to the Deerpark Restaurant, sail up and along the main road to the Biltmore House, and loop by, within feet from the massive main entrance doors of the House, to enter the Walled Garden. Runners will then edge along the Azalea Garden and lagoon paralleling the French Broad River, transition onto packed dirt carriage trails, and explore west quarter vistas of the Biltmore House normally off-limits to the public. The final stretch of the Asheville Marathon runs directly through working vineyards to finish back on east side.
Running for a Cause
Those participating in the Asheville Marathon are not only competing for awards, scratching off bucket list items, or having the best day of their lives, but are also supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the Mission Cancer Center. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to LLS, the world’s largest voluntary, non-profit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the Asheville Marathon will enable Mission to provide additional comprehensive treatments and services to many of the 150 patients that are receiving daily treatment at the SECU Cancer Center.
