2014CKMSlogoThumbThe Carolina Kid’s MultiSport Series brings five fun events to provide healthy and engaging confidence and body boosts to kids in the greater WNC area! Two of our events have been added to the USA Triathlon Youth Aquathlon Series in 2014! We are honored to be included in the elite group of only 50 such events in the U.S.

Getting started early is extremely important to getting youth involved and committed to an active and healthy lifestyle, motivating athletes to train and eat right. Learn more about the events in our series and motivate the kids in your life to get moving towards an active life!

Each athlete will receive a t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, goodies, and food at the event.

Event #1 - NEW! Appalachian Kid’s Triathlon

Sunday, June 8th, 2014 at Asheville School

AppTriCKMSEventsLogoThis brand new kid’s triathlon, presented by Asheville School, encompasses everything that they stand for, bringing out your child’s intrinsic values in sportsmanship, community, and learning… all in the iDaph spirit of creating unique memories that will last a lifetime. Held in conjunction with the Appalachian Aquathlon & 5k event for adults. Stay tuned for updates about this Kid’s Triathlon!

Event #2 - Asheville Kid’s Splash N’ Dash (Aquathlon)

Saturday, July 19th, 2014 at Asheville Rec Park

AVLkidsCKMSEventsLogoThe Asheville Kid’s Splash N’ Dash, held at Asheville Recreation Park, is designed to promote an active, healthy lifestyle for the youth in the Carolinas and to introduce them to multi-sport events. These events will consist of various distances in the sport of aquathlon designed for multiple age/experience groups to allow kids to compete with athletic peers.

The Asheville Kid’s Splash N’ Dash has been selected to be part of the USAT Splash and Dash Youth Aquathlon Series in 2014! This is very exciting! There are only 50 of these events in the series in the USA and we have 2 of them this year.

 

 

Event #3 - LPC Kid’s Splash N’ Dash

Sunday, August 17th, 2014 at the Lelia Patterson Center

LPCkidsCKMSEventsLogoThis, fourth event in the series is at the Lelia Patterson Center in Fletcher, NC in conjunction with LPC Triathlon for adults, allowing kids to participate in their own event without adults overshadowing them! This MultiSport event is in the format of an aquathlon, or splash n’ dash, and is formatted to be appropriate for beginner and elite athletes alike.

Event #4 – NEW! Du the Asheville Du for Kids (Duathlon)

Sunday, September 14th, 2014 at Biltmore Estate

DuTheDuCKMSEventsLogoThis kids duathlon held in conjunction with the annual Du the Asheville Duathlon is on the grounds of the famous Biltmore Estate for intermediate and advanced level youth athletes only. Both individuals and teams are allowed to participate in this 5k flat paved run and 10 mile bike course. So, kids can DU THE DU TOO!

Event #5 – Open Doors Kids Du 2 (Duathlon)

Sunday, October 12th, 2014 at Sky Valley Farms

KidsDu2CKMSEventsLogoThis 2nd Annual kid’s duathlon, run and bike event, is held in conjunction with the Dig the Du, Asheville’s Dirty Duathlon, and Open Doors of Asheville. By participating in their own dirty du, kids get the opportunity to run and bike the stunning grounds of  Sky Valley Farms in Hendersonville, NC on their own without adults towering overhead and gain a sense of accomplishment.

Event #6 – NEW! The Amazing Obstacle Challenge

Saturday, October 25th, 2014 at Camp Rockmont

ObstacleCKMSEventsLogoThe Amazing Obstacle Challenge presented by Buncombe County Schools at Camp Rockmont offers two courses, one each for adults and kids! Halloween dress up encouraged to make the event that much more fun. Costume contests and team events too! Step up to the Amazing Obstacle Challenge in Black Mountain this October!

VOLUNTEER FOR THE 2014 CAROLINA KIDS SERIES

Volunteers are the backbone of a terrific event experience for the kids. Sign up to donate 1 – 2 hours of your time helping to make the event run smoothly by counting laps, helping at registration, and other useful tasks. All volunteers will receive an awesome race tee, yummy food, and will get to enjoy in all the event festivities.

Series Rules

  • Kids must complete 4 of 6 of the CKMS events to qualify for series awards.
  • Kids can compete in more than 2 events but we will only count your best 2 races.
  • Kids will be scored in their age division and overall prizes will be awarded at the end of the series.
  • A cross country scoring format will be used: 1st place is 1 point, 2nd place is 2 points and on down the line. The lower point total you have at the end of the 2013 series, the better.
  • Age Group Leader board will be posted on www.idaph.net at the conclusion of each event.
  • Prizes will be awarded at a Carolina Kids MultiSport Series End of Series Party.

Guidelines

  • All parents/guardians are encourage to help their young athletes while they compete
  • All athletes are required to wear a helmet and shoes on the bike
  • All athletes must wear their assigned race number and be body marked
  • All athletes must have their parent/guardian present
