Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic
An Extraordinary Race for Runners of all Abilities!
Results are posted on the Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k Race Website HERE
Both races are run entirely on the scenic grounds of Biltmore Estate. The 15K begins at the Winery, climbs to Deerpark Restaurant then descends and climbs along the main road to Biltmore House where runners will loop in front of the massive main entrance doors of the house.
Runners next enter the Walled Garden, pass by the Azalea Garden and lagoon along the French Broad River, and then finish by returning to the Winery. The first half of the course has two challenging hills, while the second half is downhill to flat terrain. The 5K course will be a flat, out and back course starting at the Winery and paralleling the French Broad River.
The race is a benefit – the largest fundraiser of the year – for the Kiwanis Children’s Charities which supports several local youth programs. Kiwanis Club of Asheville provides book bags filled with school supplies each fall to children in need as they begin the school year. To encourage attendance and punctuality in several of the local elementary schools, the club gives away a bicycle each quarter, by way of a drawing, to children with perfect attendance and punctuality.
The Club also aids in elementary school spelling bees and co-sponsors the annual “Pawndemonium,” a regional chess tournament for school children.
The race entry fee allows access to Biltmore for purposes of participating in the 15K or 5K race events only. Spectator viewing is limited to the Start/Finish area at the Winery. Upgrades may be purchased for $25 to include a tour of the Biltmore House. The race entry fee allows access to Biltmore grounds only for purposes of participating in the 5K or 15K race events.
