We all know this year has been a bit ‘ho-ho-hum’, but here at iDaph Events we are keeping the energy and motivation high in our community by gearing up for three fun and festive holiday-themed races. Our upcoming in-person running events will kick off the holidays in a healthy, family-friendly and socially-distanced manner, as we invite our running community to help celebrate the holiday season with close friends and family — and kiss 2020 good-bye!

Each of our iDaph events have limited participation numbers and they all include distanced wave starts to allow for plenty of spacing between runners. Face coverings are required before and after the event, and all iDaph staff members and volunteers are required to wear masks. Each race is unique and requires a separate set of guidelines. For a list of COVID-19 guidelines being implemented at each event, please visit the event’s website page.

South Asheville Turkey Trot

PLEASE NOTE: THE IN-PERSON 5K IS SOLD OUT! BUT RUNNERS CAN STILL SIGN UP FOR THE VIRTUAL OPTION AND GET THE COOL SWAG.

The Third Annual Biltmore Park Turkey Trot returns on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26th. Join us for this fun and festive annual tradition at our IN-PERSON 5K (also with a virtual race option) that winds through the scenic and FLAT Fletcher Park. The 2020 in-person event has been moved from Biltmore Park Town Square to Fletcher Park to allow for extended wave starts. Wave starts, along with limited participation, will offer social distancing between runners and are part of our safe and responsible race planning. Runners will select a wave start when they register online.

The South Asheville Turkey Trot offers runners, walkers, and trotters a chip-timed race, a fully-marked 5k course, with super-cool, commemorative spinny, finisher medals, a Run.Now.Gobble.Later shirt and an opportunity to win prizes and awards for the overall, masters and age group categories.

Thanksgiving is the largest running holiday with families all over the country and Turkey Trots are a great way to start the day. Join us at Fletcher Park and enjoy some fresh air and exercise before gathering around the table for your Thanksgiving feast! You’ll share miles and smiles with your family and friends as part of this fun, annual tradition. We also have a virtual option with fun Turkey swag included. You can run the same course on your own or wherever you want to run or walk and submit your results online by Sunday, November 29th to be eligible for additional prizes and awards.

Ugly Sweater Run 5K, 10K & Challenge

Get ready to swagger in your sweater (your UGLY sweater, that is), and join us for the inaugural Ugly Sweater Run 5K and 10K at the Riveter in Mills River, NC. Join iDaph Events for a festive (and socially distanced) 5K, 10K & Challenge hosted by the Riveter, the nation’s premier indoor climbing gym, bike park, and wellness arena. There’ll be delicious food, drinks, and refreshments (including adult beverages and coffee), and plenty of activities including a premier bike park and a climbing wall. Chill out after the race and unwind at a socially-distanced flow, indoor yoga class at the Riveter’s yoga studio. Runners can also sign up for the challenge, which involves both distances. A virtual option is also available.

If you’ve never been to the Riveter, you are in for a treat. The fitness facility opened its doors in 2019 and is the first indoor bike park and climbing gym combo in the nation. Located closely to Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and the Asheville Regional Airport, the facility offers outdoor activity and environmental sustainability with a 40,000 square foot facility located above a 10-acre working farm that leads to the French Broad River.

The business is based on adventure fitness and has a 16,000+ square feet of climbing terrain, 18,000+ square feet of progressive jump lines, drop training, and the first Velosolutions Pump Park in the country. The facility also has a beautiful yoga studio, a spin studio, community space, libation station (fancy word for a really cool bar), retail shop, and outdoor courses including a cross-country perimeter trail around the farm.

Kiss 2020 Goodbye! Run a 5k, 10k, or BOTH in downtown Asheville

Registration for the Annual New Year’s Resolution Run in downtown Asheville is set to open November 12th at noon! Let’s kiss 2020 goodbye and celebrate with what we love to do most: RUN! The Resolution Run offers socially-distanced wave starts and this year will have a 5k, 10k, plus a Challenge distance where you can run both! We welcome families and participants of all ages to come run, walk or crawl their way to completing their first resolution. Bring warm layers of clothes, tie up your running shoes, and get ready to ‘run into’ 2021.

The New Year’s Resolution Run will look a bit different this year. The 10k distance is very popular among our community of runners, so we have replaced the 10 Mile distance with a brand new 10k option. For those endurance runners still looking for a distance challenge on New Year’s Day, the 5k and 10k can both be run, back-to-back so runners can get in a 15k or 9.3 miles.

Baires Food Truck will be at the Resolution Run selling their infamous breakfast empanada, a special New Year’s empanadas and hot drinks such as hot chocolate and coffee. Cash and card accepted. Website Event website page coming soon.
