Thank you for signing up for the New Year’s Resolution Run in downtown Asheville! May we all get off on the RIGHT FOOT together with this annual run on the first day of the year. Let’s all bring positivity, fun and enthusiasm to this special day that will mark a new beginning for each and everyone one of us.
Please take a moment to read through our pre-event guide blog. It has important information regarding the event. You can also download and listen to the iDaph Events Podcast for information about the Resolution Run, or check out the recorded podcast on YouTube.

Rolling Wave Starts
The race starts and finishes in Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville, NC. The address is 80 Court Plaza, Asheville, NC 28801.
In order to safely socially-distance runners throughout the race, we have implemented rolling wave starts for this event. There is no mass start. When you registered online you selected a wave start time. You can show up and begin your race at any point during that 10 minute time window. 10k runners will start first according to the wave start time that you selected when you registered online.
- 10:00 AM - 10:09 AM
- 10:10 AM - 10:19 AM
- 10:20 AM - 10:29 AM
5k runners wave starts are the following times:
- 10:30 AM - 10:39 AM
- 10:40 AM - 10:49 AM
- 10:50 AM - 10:59 AM1
As soon as you get to the start line you will start your race. No hanging out. No waiting around…. so don’t come to the start line until you are READY TO GO! This rolling start style of race is more laid back and doesn’t have that same amount of pressure that a mass start race does. The start and finish line are both in Pack Square, in two separate locations.
The brand new Challenge, which is both the 5K and 10K, runners must start the 10k first and you would have signed up online for a 10k wave start time. If you are participating in the Challenge, we suggest that you start your race close to 10am, no later than 10:19 am. You will finish the 10k race at the finish chute, then go to the start line again and do the 5k course.
Participants in the Challenge will be competing in the 5k and the 10k races and listed in each of those results. We will not have a ‘cummulative’ time or awards category for the Challenge (15k) participants. All Challenge participants will get their own special swag for participating in the Challenge and will qualify for awards in the 5k and the 10k races. Please only take one finisher medal. They are the same for both races. THANK YOU!!
– If you are participating in the 10k race, you will split from the 5k course at the 1.7 mile mark and continue onto Kimberly Ave at the intersection of Evelyn Pl, Kimberly Ave, and Edwin Pl.
- You will do one lap of the course. It is a 5k! Start at the start line, finish at the finish line at the Pack Square… easy peasy!
We are taking this virus very seriously, and we have made substantial changes to ensure we are adhering to the NC guidelines concerning COVID-19. Participants must wear masks before and after the race. All volunteers and staff members are also required to wear masks at all times.
Please visit our Blog Post for a list of COVID-19 guidelines.
Packet Pick-up is on Race Day
Packet Pick-up will take place on the day of the event at Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville (you will see signs when you arrive). Please plan to arrive approximately 30 minutes before your assigned wave start time to check-in and pick up your swag and race bib.
VERY IMPORTANT: Have your race number pinned on the FRONT of your shirt/outer layer! We must be able to see your race number at all times. If your race number is underneath a jacket, your time may not register on our timing system.
If you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is plenty of available parking at nearby parking garages. You can also find metered street parking and parking at several nearby Parking Decks.
In order to keep spectators and gathering at a minimum in the park, and for your friends and family to have the best experience watching you race, we highly encourage that they find some places downtown on the course to spread out and cheer you on. Specatators are required to wear face coverings.
Race Route & Course Info
It is up to you to know the course and follow the course markings and signs along the route. We will have pink route arrows on the sidewalks and roads and pink spray paint. We will also have tall directional signs and yard signs with arrows. Please stay on the sidewalks when they are available to you. If there is not a sidewalk please run facing traffic on the left side of the road. Do not run in the middle of the road. FOLLOW THE ROUTE ARROW STICKERS ON THE GROUND! At the course split the YELLOW arrow on the ground will lead 10k runners straight up Kimberly Avenue. The Pink arrows on the ground will lead the 5k runners to the left on Evelyn.
The 10k and 5k courses will split on Edwin, Evelyn and Kimberly Ave intersection, a little over 1 ½ miles in… the 5k runners will take a LEFT and go on EVELYN… they will not go up Kimberly Avenue. If you do, well. You will be running 2x the distance you signed up for! The 10k will come back to this intersection at a little over 4 ½ miles and so you will see it again when you join back in on the rest of the 5k course for the last mile and a half of the run.
