Family at South Asheville Turkey Trot

We can’t wait to see you at the South Asheville Turkey Trot 5K!

Here’s what you need to know for Packet Pick-up and Race Day.

We are thankful you’re here! Thank you for signing up for the South Asheville Turkey Trot. We can’t wait to celebrate our Thanksgiving morning with you.

Please take a moment to read through our pre-event guide blog. It has important information regarding the event. You can also download and listen to the iDaph Events Podcast for information about the South Asheville Turkey Trot, or check out the recorded podcast on YouTube.

COVID-19 Guidelines

We are taking this virus very seriously, and we have made substantial changes to ensure we are adhering to the NC guidelines concerning COVID-19. Participants must wear masks before and after the race, but do not have to wear a mask while running. All volunteers and staff members are required to wear masks at all times.

Please visit our Blog Post for a list of COVID-19 guidelines.

Packet Pick-up before Race Day

In-person Packet Pick-up will take place the day before the event at Fleet Feet Asheville in Biltmore Park Town Square.

Date: Wednesday, November 25th from 2-5pm.

Location: 8 Town Square Blvd #165, Asheville, NC 28803

This is a drive-through style packet pick-up, so there is no need to leave your vehicle! We will bring your packet, goody bag and race bib to your vehicle.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO day-of packet pickup. If you have questions please email support@idaph.net.

Race Day

Since we are conducting rolling wave starts this year, the time for this 5K event is between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. So for example, if you signed up for the 8:00-8:19 am start time you can arrive anytime between that 19 minute window to the start line to start your race. You do not have to be there at the start of your wave!

Please arrive approximately 15-20 minutes before your assigned wave start so that you have time to use the restrooms. You should already have your race bib, so please make sure the bib number is on the front of your shirt or some other prominent place! Do not cover it with your jacket, etc. It must be visible when you start and finish.

It is important that you start at your assigned wave start time. Our permit with Bill Moore Community Park is contingent with certain guidelines for this event. Wave start times ensure that only 50 people (the current event gathering allowed number in NC) are in a certain window of time, and allows for social distancing on the course.

If you are not able to make the wave start time you signed up for, please consider converting your race to the virtual option. The course will stay marked until end of the day on Friday, November 27th, and you can submit your results until Sunday at midnight (or run anywhere). This means you can run the race anytime after the event takes place and submit your race results online. You will still receive your race swag. You can make that change through the Race Roster profile.

Please Note: The time limit for the course is 11:00 AM.

Food Drive

Please help support our food drive! We will be accepting food drive donations for the food bank at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, NC. You can drop off your canned good when you check-in at registration. Our goal is 300 canned goods!

After you cross the finish line

After you cross the finish line, pick up your finisher medal at our contactless medal station, and you are free to head to your vehicle. Due to COVID-19, we are not having any type of after-party activity or awards ceremony, so you can head on home to your Thanksgiving and enjoy the rest of your day with family and friends.

Awards Ceremony

There will be a Virtual Awards Ceremony the following week via Zoom. We will send out an email with the Zoom link information, but you can also watch a recorded session on YouTube and Facebook Live after the ceremony takes place.

Good luck Turkey Trotters! We hope you have a great run and enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday!
