Thanks again to everyone that came out and raced with us at Ride Kanuga for the 9th Annual Asheville Off Road Series presented by Hunter Subaru. It was amazing to be able to see all of you come together to trail run, gravel bike and do both (run and bike) at one venue, at one time! It is the ultimate off-road experience!

Special thanks to Ride Kanuga for letting us use the property to host this event this year. We are so grateful to have been able to keep this race happening so that it didn’t have to be cancelled. It was an honor for us iDaph Events to create this new event venue race experience for you all.

Thanks so much to St. Baldrick’s Foundation for being part of this year’s event and to all of that you that donated to them. Thanks to their awesome volunteers too! And a shout out to all the other many volunteers, police, sheriffs, motos and personnel that took the time to be part of making this a fun, safe, event at this new spot for all the participants! And thanks to Reid (Fit by Reid) for creating the gravel courses for the bike races.

2022 Updates: We have the 10th Annual Asheville Off Road Series event already scheduled and confirmed for Biltmore Estate on Sept 18, 2022. Save the date and spread the word to your friends. We will have to have a minimum of 500 participants at this event in order to have the event on the estate. We want it to create and produce this event there again for you, just like you all want it to be back there again! We need your help in signing up when registration opens to make it happen.

Ride Kanuga addition for the future? If you all were in love with the Ride Kanuga location for an event, we may consider adding it as a new event to our event calendar. We will ask you all about that in our post race survey. So take a few minutes to let us know in the survey if you want to see us put a similar race on again there in the future at Ride Kanuga.

Thank you all again for comng out and racing in the woods and on the dirt and trails with us!

from all of us at iDaph Events

Let’s face it, sometimes we all need a little help getting up these giant WNC hills. We’re allowing e-bikes at this event and they will be scored in their own category, so all riders are welcome!

Asheville Off Road Series makes its move to Ride Kanuga

Asheville Off Road Series makes its move to Ride Kanuga

2021 Asheville Off Road Series

9th Annual Asheville Off-Road Series presented by Hunter Subaru

makes its move to Ride Kanuga on September 19, 2021

The 9th Annual Off-Road Series presented by Hunter Subaru will take place at a new location for 2021 at Ride Kanuga, located near Asheville in Hendersonville, NC on Sunday, September 19, 2021. The AORS (Asheville Off Road Series) consists of three main events: Asheville Duathlon, Trail Run and Gravel Grinder Bike events. Each of these events gives a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts the ability to explore either by foot or by two wheels the Western North Carolina trails, gravel roads and scenic country paved roads.

The Asheville Off Road Series was originally designed and created in 2013 by iDaph Events at Biltmore Estate located in Asheville, NC. The race began with only the duathlon (run/bike/run) event and has evolved and grown over the years to meet the needs of our local and regional community of runners and cyclists. “We love hosting an event where off-road, dirt and gravel loving runners, cyclists and multi-sport athletes can each have an opportunity to compete together at the same time and same venue in their favorite discipline. Although the race has moved this year to Ride Kanuga, it gives participants the opportunity to mix it up and try new courses, new trails, gravel roads and a new venue,” said Daphne Kirkwood, Race Director.

Event Info: Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 8:00 am at Ride Kanuga, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

New for 2021: This is an e-bike friendly event. E-bike riders will be scored separately in the duathlon and gravel grinder bike events.

Duathlon: The Asheville Duathlon - a 2.5 mile, mostly single-track trail run, 13 mile mixed surface (both paved and gravel/dirt roads) bike, and a final 2.5 mile trail off-road run.

Gravel Events: The Asheville Gravel Grinder Bike Events come packed with something for every type of rider, a 13, 25 or 42 mile option. Whether you are a seasoned athlete, a weekend warrior or scenery seeking rider, these bike events are for you!

5 Mile Trail Run: The Asheville Off Road Series 5 mile trail run is a 2.5 mile loop course (2x) that runs on Ride Kanuga property. With only 160 feet of elevation gain, trail runners will get to enjoy their time on their feet, running through the beautiful woods and trails. The course is mostly single-track trail with a couple of short sections of gravel/dirt roads and a couple really short snippets on paved roads. Get ready to let your legs fly on the Ride Kanuga connector trail and flowy trail near their soon-to-be new office building. Both of these sections are flowy, smooth as butter and fun!

Partners: We are pleased to announce our selection of St. Baldrick’s Foundation as our non-profit partner for the Asheville Off-Road Series. St. Baldrick’s exists to conquer childhood cancers. For more information about St. Baldrick’s and to volunteer please contact events@idaph.net. Participants who donate $25 or more by September 5th will receive a free St. Baldrick’s shirt and wrist band!

2020 Asheville Off Road Series: We will see you in 2021

2020 Asheville Off Road Series: We will see you in 2021

John Smith and Connor Smith with masks on at Asheville Triathlon

The Asheville Off Road Series at Biltmore Estate is a unique, challenging event that has grown into a local and regional favorite over the years. Our 2019 event was our biggest event to date, and we were anticipating an even bigger number in 2020. We were looking forward to having another day of Gravel Grinder, 10K and Duathlon events, and sharing the excitement of racing with our participants.

The world had other plans, however.

We shut down registration for the 2020 Asheville Off Road Series in March due to COVID-19, and since that time we have been working behind the scenes with Biltmore Estate to make the event possible in some capacity. When we knew we were close to coming to a final event plan with Biltmore Estate, we sent out a survey to all of our participants to gauge community interest. We noted that there would be some major changes to the event, such as the deletion of the duathlon, staggered start times, wave starts, and other safety guidelines we would put in place to encourage social distancing.

Although the response to the survey was mostly positive and encouraging, we did not feel there were enough responses to ensure we would have the necessary number of participants for this year’s event.

Therefore, it is with heavy hearts that we are foregoing the 2020 Asheville Off Road Series this year and will instead plan for a completely epic event in 2021. With 40 percent of our participants not feeling comfortable at this time to attend an in-person event — AND with September being saturated with scheduled events already — we have opted to cancel the 2020 event completely. We are taking the safety of our participants very seriously, and although we could have this event in a safe and socially distanced way, given the survey results it would not be a viable option for our small business.

We are offering our current registrations the option to defer their registration to the 2021 event, to donate their registration costs to the iDream Athlete’s Foundation, or to receive a refund.

Registrants must submit a formal decision by August 31st at midnight by selecting one of the options in the link below. All responses must be submitted using the options in the link, and any other form of response (phone calls, emails, Facebook comments, etc) will be directed back to this page to make a selection.

If you do not respond by August 31st at midnight, your registration cost will automatically be donated to the iDream Athlete’s Foundation.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. As we continue to evolve with the changing times, your continued involvement in our future events is more important than ever. Please stay tuned for other upcoming events this year by following our Facebook and Instagram pages, and updates on our websites. We hope everyone stays safe and continues to MOVE FORWARD in their athletic training and goals.
