Tour D’Apple

Tour d’Apple cycling event provides four exciting, challenging routes through Western North Carolina’s apple orchards, waterfalls, and mountains to benefit the charitable projects of the Hendersonville Four Seasons Rotary Club. It’s an incredibly scenic ride with options for every type of participant, free food and drinks afterwards, and awesome swag.

The 18th annual Hunter Subaru WNC Flyer will be held at Oskar Blues Brewery in beautiful Western North Carolina. There will be a rolling start with limited waves (from 8-8:45 AM). We can’t think of a better way to spend the day than with a rolling bike ride, a frosty brew, and BBQ… can you?!


Riders will have their choice of a century, metric, half century, and half metric rides which wind through the valleys south of Asheville, NC. There is beautiful mountain scenery around every bend of the road without the long mountain climbs. The Flyer is a ride for everyone - from first time riders to experienced cyclists.

2021 WNC Flyer has SOLD OUTAfter only 21 hours of online registration being open for the WNC Flyer presented by Hunter Subaru, the 2021 event has sold out. Join the waitlist in case more spots become available by going HERE. The 17th Annual WNC Flyer event is set for Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Bold Rock in Mills River, NC. Net proceeds benefit the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club and their bicycling advocacy programs in WNC.  

STAGGERED, WAVE STARTS AND OTHER CHANGES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED THIS YEAR DUE TO COVID. WE WILL BE FOLLOWING ALL THE NC EVENT GATHERING SAFETY GUIDELINES FROM START TO FINISH. 

Ride Details for 2021:

The 17th annual Hunter Subaru WNC Flyer will be held in Western North Carolina.  The start/finish will be at Bold Rock, Mills River, NC.  What better way to spend the day than with a Bike Ride, BBQ a Brew!

Riders will have their choice of  a century, metric, half century, and half metric rides which wind through the valleys south of Asheville, NC. Although it is the least hilly ride in Western North Carolina, it has plenty of rolling hills to keep all riders interested. There is beautiful mountain scenery without the long mountain climbs. The Flyer is a ride for everyone from first time riders to experience riders.

This is a fully supported ride with well-stocked rest stops and an after ride party. The Bold Rock Food truck will have lots of yummy BBQ (or Veggie lunch options) and beer for purchase after the ride.

Here’s what you need to know about start times, packet-pick up, parking and more!

We are excited to kick off another Tour d’Apple on Monday, September 2nd! This ride begins at 8:00 am from Blue Ridge Community College.

All rides will start 5 minutes apart.

8:00 am – 100 Mile Start
8:05 am – 100 KM Start
8:10 am – 45 Mile Start
8:15 am – 25 Mile Start

Schedule of Events

Sunday, September 1st:

1:00-4:00 pm: Packet pick up + Onsite Registration at Sycamore Cycles (743 Locust St, Hendersonville, NC)

If you ordered Tour d’Apple bib shorts and/or jersey you will pick these up with your ride packet.

Monday, September 2nd:

6:45am-7:45am: Packet Pick up + Onsite Registration at Blue Ridge Community College: 180 W Campus Dr, Flat Rock, NC 28731

WE HIGHLY SUGGEST GETTING YOUR MATERIALS AT THE SUNDAY PACKET PICK-UP TIME TO SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND STRESS ON EVENT MORNING

6:30 AM Coffee available from Share Well Coffee Co. (bring cash!)
6:45-7:45 AM Packet Pickup + Onsite Registration
8:00 AM 100 Mile Start
8:05 AM 100 KM Start
8:10 AM 45 Mile Start
8:15 AM 25 Mile Start
10:00 AM Chick-fil-A breakfast for 25 milers begins
10:00 AM YAM on site for post-ride massages (bring cash!)
11:00 AM Chick-fil-A post ride meal begins
11:30-2:00 PM Dryman Mountain Boys plays at BRCC
4:00 PM Post Ride Meal Ends
4:30 PM All Routes Close - the ride will be unassisted after this point

PARKING:
There is plenty of parking at Blue Ridge Community College, but with over 500 cyclists, you may want to consider any of the parking areas listed on the map posted above. In addition to the main parking lot, you can assess parking through East Campus Drive and West Campus Drive behind the College buildings.

From Asheville: Take I-26 East, then Exit 53. Turn right on Upward Road; after 0.6 miles, turn right on S. Allen Road. After 0.7 miles, turn left on College Drive. Follow signs to Tour d’Apple.

From Greenville: Take US25 North, then ramp to I-26 West. Take Exit 53, turn left on Upward Road. After 0.5 miles, turn right on S. Allen Road. After 0.7 miles, turn left on College Drive. Follow signs to Tour d’Apple.

From Spartanburg: Take I-26 East, then Exit 53. Turn left on Upward Road. After 0.5 miles, turn right on S. Allen Road. After 0.7 miles, turn left on College Drive. Follow signs to Tour d’Apple.

This classic, annual, Lowcountry bicycle ride, formerly known as “The After the Bridge Run Ride”, winds through beautiful Francis Marion National Forest. The event raises money for the support of bicycle advocacy in the Lowcountry and around the state! ROUTES 

This year’s routes include a 33 miles, 43 miles, a metric century (65 miles), and full century (100 miles). There are optional turns on the route that can make 25 mile or 74 mile routes, also. We will provide route cue sheets at packet pickup or you can grab on the morning of the ride. Below are route maps via Ride With GPS:
