Frostbite 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Fun Run

Need a goal to keep you running this winter? Join us for the 30th Annual Frostbite, the oldest and largest footrace in Henderson County! This in-person running event (with a virtual option) offers a 5K, 10K, and 1 Mile Fun Run, so there’s something for the entire family. The Frostbite races begin and finish at the Lelia Patterson Center in Fletcher, North Carolina.  Both the 10k and 5k courses provide views of Hutch Mountain and are on hilly to challenging terrain, with some moderate inclines. The flat and fast 1-mile course, makes this premier racing event an opportunity for all running levels and ages to participate together.

10k Course time limit is 3:45 pm.

The 30th Annual Lelia Patterson Center Frostbite Races (5k, 10k & One Mile Fun run/walk) are presented by Hunter Subaru and take place on Sunday, February 20, 2022 in Fletcher, North Carolina. The Frostbite races are the OLDEST races in Henderson County! Be part of the annual tradition!

Both courses provide views of Hutch Mountain and are on hilly to challenging terrain, with some steep inclines on both the 10k and 5k courses. The flat and fast, 1 mile course, makes this premier racing event an opportunity for all running levels and ages.

The Frostbite races begin and finish at the Lelia Patterson Center, located at Howard Gap Road & Naples Road in Fletcher, N.C.

The 2022 non-profit race partner is ABYSA. The Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association (ABYSA) is a 501( c ) 3 not for profit organization providing children and families in Western North Carolina with both recreational and competitive soccer programs.

FINISHER PRIZES!

Thank you to all the participants that came out to the 28th Annual Frostbite 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Fun Run! We had over 500 people registered for the race today, which means we surpassed our number from last year! 

Congratulations to our Overall Male and Female winners along with all the finishers today!

A huge thank you to Couch Mountain Community for being our presenting sponsor this year! Those towels they gave out at the finish line were AWESOME!

Thank you Lelia Patterson Center for once again providing the space for the event, and your continued support over the years. 

We would also like to give a huge thanks to Hunter Subaru for their continued support. We hope everyone got to check out their Subarus at the event! Thank you Ingles Markets for providing yummy snacks and beverages, and we KNOW you all enjoyed the warm up by our friends at the Training Post and Fitness

The 4th Annual Asheville Winter Swim League will kickoff in January and go through February 13th on Thursdays from 6:30 pm-8 pm. All levels and abilities of swimmers are welcome to attend!

PLEASE NOTE: AVL WSL will end on February 13th this year due to pool repairs.  

What is the AVL Swim League? The intention of the swim league is to build a better swimming community in WNC. All levels and abilities of swimmers will be training together in a friendly, cohesive, structured and coached GROUP atmosphere.
