Running of the Goats 5K & Nature Walk

Are you ready to run wild with the WNC Nature Center?! Join us for the first-ever Running of the Goats 5k and Nature Walk to support the animals you love!

1. Choose to run or walk the 3.1 mile course, which starts and ends at the WNC Nature Center. Begin your journey by catching a glimpse of the goats, bears, birds, and otters before heading out on a rolling, paved course.

2. Opt to walk only* inside the Nature Center along a paved route and see more animals waking up to start their day. Your self-guided tour will include fun, nature-related prompts and activities along the path. *In order to ensure the comfort of our animals, running is not permitted during the Nature Walk.

3. Participate at any time in any location with the virtual option.

No matter which option you choose, you’ll receive a race shirt (if registered by 4/11 at midnight) and a free guest pass to visit the Nature Center in the future. Give The Gift Of An Experience

Give The Gift Of An Experience

The holidays are just around the corner and along with it comes the stress of figuring out gifts for everyone on your list. Have you ever considered giving the gift of an experience? I know we tend to think that gifts should be tangible, physical items but the gift of an experience is the kind of gift that keeps on giving.

How do experiences make us happier?

Prof. Thomas Gilovich, psychologist at the University of Cornell, says that experiences make us much happier than material possessions: “People often think spending money on an experience is not as wise an investment as spending it on a material possession. They think the experience will come and go in a flash, and they’ll be left with little compared to owning an item. But in reality we remember experiences long afterward, while we soon become used to our possessions. At the same time, we also enjoy the anticipation of having an experience more than the anticipation of owning a possession.”

Think about it - experiences last longer. We spend time anticipating the experience. We get to enjoy the experience. AND we get share the experience with people during the experience. Not only that, but people want to hear about the experience after the fact. An experience is the type of gift that keeps on giving and you get the chance to share in the joy and excitement of experiencing it with your friends and/or loved ones. Nothing is more valuable than spending time with family and friends.

Make new memories this year

Make some wonderful new memories this year at one of our upcoming events. You can start off the New Year running through the streets of Downtown Asheville at the Resolution Run. We offer a 5k for the walker in your life and short distance runner or choose the 10 mile for your endurance friends or family members. You can even help your family and/or friends accomplish a big goal this year like a Marathon/Half or a Challenge at the Asheville Marathon and Half at Biltmore Estate.

Give the gift of experience

How can you give the gift of a race?

1. If you have the info needed (i.e. name, birthday, address, emergency contact) go ahead and get them registered for the Resolution Run or Asheville Marathon & Half at Biltmore Estate!
2. If you don’t have the participants info, then you can contact us at support@idaph.net to purchase a giftcard for the registration fee.

Once you have registered the participant(s) or purchased a giftcard let us know at support@idaph.net and we will send you a personalized certificate!

Frosbite: NEW One Mile Fun Run Course!

The 2019 Frostbite Races features a NEW One Mile Fun Run/Walk Course!

We are SO excited to have an updated one mile course for the fun run/walk! The one mile event has grown over the years and we wanted to create a course that is better suited for all levels of runners/walkers and has more excitement and is spectator friendly around the start and finish area. One Mile participants will start the race at the start finish line this year (instead of on the track) and then go down to the track and around the baseball field! We are looking forward to this updated course!

The Frostbite One Mile Fun Run/Walk - Begins at the Start line, loops around by Fletcher Academy, follows path to track, run lap around track and around ball field (2x) and then return to path to Lelia Patterson Center and the Finish Line.
