This February 16th, we want you to check out the new course, race expo, time of your life in the Leila Patterson Center Frostbite Races, presented by Southeastern Sports Medicine, beginning at 2pm.
For 22 years now, the Leila Patterson Center (LPC) Frostbite Races have brought good times (both on and off the race course) to Fletcher and those who descend upon it to participate. 2014 will be no different! Only this year a new certified race course has been set to make this year’s event all the more worth your while.
In the 22nd Annual edition of the Frostbite races, presented by Southeastern Sports Medicine, we give competitors of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy a great race and the warm fellowship of fellow runners amidst the chill of Winter. The event will include the option to join in on either 10k, 5k, or 1 mile fun run events. In the race, a fairly smooth route will await competitors’ feet as they traverse the gently rolling terrain surrounding Hutch Mountain. Starting and finishing at the LPC, the 10k course will carry runners out Howard Gap Road and other rustic thoroughfares meandering through the neighboring Fletcher countryside. 5k athletes will take a slightly different route circling the LPC complex and going well past Amble Lane before returning to the common start/finish area. For both races, mile markers, volunteers, and water stations positioned along the way will help participants navigate, pace, and hydrate themselves as they aim to stay motivated in their efforts to reach the finish line. The moderate terrain of this course is sure to bring blazing fast racing, and a good start on that list of New Year’s PR goals. The One Mile Fun will have its own unique direction, ringing landscapes adjacent to the LPC.
What’s more, upon crossing the finish line, your fun will have only begun! The 2014 Frostbite races will include a Family Fun Day and Wellness Expo from 1:30-4:30 inside the Leila Patterson Center. At the Expo, games, booths, and music will await you, your friends, your family, and fellow competitors as you cool off (or warm up!) after the race.
