PACKET- PICKUP

Pre-event Packet Pickup:

  • Saturday, June 10th: 1:00pm - 5:00pm

There will be LIMITED/EMERGENCY bib pickup service available on race day for race bibs ONLY. Shirts and goody bags must be picked up after the race at the Merchandise Tent. We will not have these items available on race morning.

SHUTTLE

After the race, take a free participant shuttle from the Wedge at Foundation back to Pack Square Park in Downtown Asheville, NC. There is also plenty of parking at the Wedge, so participants can always be picked up by a friend or family member after the race and be driven back downtown. You can also drop a car off at the Wedge beforehand and carpool to the start.

Course time limit is 10:30am.

Course Type: Point-to-Point, Downtown City Streets and Greenway. Mostly paved, a couple short sections of dirt paths.

Half Marathon & 10k Event Guide

From Downtown Asheville to River Arts District

The 2nd Annual RAD Half Marathon & 10K run through the best parts of the City of Asheville, North Carolina. Including downtown city streets, River Arts District, along the French Broad River, and through the park for this city-style, point-to-point race. The majority of the miles are downhill from downtown and ‘flat’ running along the river on the greenway and through the city parks. Runners are on mostly paved surfaces throughout the entire event with a few dirt sections within the French Broad River Park. 

The course cutoff time for both races is 10:30 AM.

The RAD Half and 10k courses are both USATF sanctioned and courses are certified.

The 10k certfication number is NC22006DF

SHUTTLES

RUNNERS

Shuttle tickets are complimentary and are included in the race fee for runners. You will need to show your race number to get on the shuttle bus. Your race number is your ticket.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY (SPECTATORS):

Spectators may also use the shuttle bus. A shuttle ticket is required to board the shuttle. Tickets can be purchased online ($20), at packet pickup or before boarding the bus on race morning.

SHUTTLE TIMELINE:

AFTER THE RACE 7:30AM-NOON Shuttles pick-up from Wedge at Foundation and return runners and spectators to Downtown Asheville.

Shuttles will leave every 15 minutes starting at 7:30am until 12pm from the Wedge at Foundation.

IMPORTANT: THERE IS NO SHUTTLE BUS PICKUP FROM THE FINISH AREA (WEDGE AT FOUNDATION) TO THE START LINE ON RACE MORNING BEFORE THE RACE.

Parking

AT THE START:

Public parking is available in Downtown Asheville in the parking garages and along the street. Parking garages nearby: Rankin and College Street

AT THE FINISH:

River Arts District has street parking along Lyman Street and parking at the Wedge at Foundation.

NO PARKING ALLOWED AT THE ART GARDEN, JONAS GERARD FINE ART STUDIO AND ANTIQUES AT RIVERVIEW STATION parking lots. These are near the finish line at Foundy Street.

Spectators

The races are spectator friendly, with live music and an opportunity for a personal best at both distances. The courses run along the newly added River Arts District Greenway and along the French Broad River.

We’re excited to have you and your friends and family members at the finish line, but we want to remind you that the Asheville Waste Paper property (the grass lot with the large graffiti building) is Private Property and there is No Trespassing allowed. This means you should stay within the designated areas and not cross any barriers or fences and pay attention to signage. Let’s all be respectful and enjoy the race! Thanks for your cooperation!

COURSE INFORMATION

Half and 10K START: 7AM

Half and 10K COURSE CUT OFF: 10:30AM

BAG CHECK AVAILABLE

Drop off a bag to have at the finish! Finisher Bags can be dropped off at the start area at the truck before the race starts. After the race begins, bags will be taken to the finisher bag tent. The tear off number on your bib is the bag check tag that should be affixed to your bag.

WATER STATIONS

Our water stations will provide a variety of options and choices to support your race experience and personal preference. We offer water, gels, JAMBARs and an electrolyte drink. Each water station will have portajohns or restrooms nearby.

It is summer in the mountains and heat and humidity are common in June. We will have five water stations along the Half course, but only ONE on the 10k course. Please consider carrying extra water with you on your run.

WATER STATION #1 - Craven Street Bridge – Half & 10K: mile 3.5

WATER STATION #2  – French Broad River Park – Half: mile 5

WATER STATION #3  – near Carrier Park Pavilion/Short Michigan Ave – Half: mile 6.5

WATER STATION #4  – Hominy Creek River Greenway Park – Half: mile 8

WATER STATION #5 – Carrier Park near picnic shelter – Half: mile 10

TIMING MATS

Timing Mats will be on the course in various locations to ensure runners have completed the entire course.

RESTROOMS

Portajons are located along the course at each water station, start and finish area. In addition there are public restrooms on the Greenway. These are noted on the race map.

POST RACE INFORMATION

We will have live music and all the merriment to celebrate your amazing accomplishment!

Post race party will be at the Wedge at Foundation. Be sure to stock up on Run Avl and Run Local Swag at the iDaph Merchandise Tent!

AWARDS

We will have an on-site awards ceremony at the event near the finish line for both races. The 10k award ceremony will be at 8:45am and the half marathon ceremony will be at 9:30am.

Awards ceremonies are only for the top 3 overall. Age group awards can be picked up beside the merchandise tent after each of the award ceremonies. 

Prizes and Awards can also be picked up the week after the event at Fleet Feet Asheville, Tuesday after 3pm, or shipped for $10 (if you don’t want to hang out at the finish line).
