The 10th Annual New Year’s Resolution Run 5k & 10k presented by Hunter Subaru is January 1, 2024 at 10am!
What better way to celebrate a decade of running than in the heart of downtown Asheville? The race course takes you through the bustling streets of downtown and charming neighborhoods, including the Grove Park area on the 10k route. And, of course, we’ve saved the best for last! The course will take you up North Market Street, the only remaining block of unique, historic, cobblestone brick pavers in Asheville for an exhilarating finish.
We welcome families and participants of all ages to come walk or run their way to completing their first resolution! Bring warm layers of clothes, lace up your shoes, and make 2024 a year of intention, inner strength and power!

Get ready to sleigh the holidays with us again this year as we bring back the most popular running series, the Holiday Hustle presented by Hunter Subaru!
Participants can join us either in-person or virtually (or a combo of both) for these three races:
- South Asheville Turkey Trot (Nov 23)
- Ugly Sweater Run (Dec 2)
- New Year’s Resolution Run (Jan 1)
And will get an awesome ‘Holiday Hustle’ medal on New Year’s Day! To enter the Holiday Hustle series, just sign up for each of the three events listed above and you will be automatically added. The deadline to register for the three races in the series to get the medal is Sunday, November 5th, 2023. Course Conditions
Please note: The course will be open to vehicular traffic. Please use sidewalks if they are on the street. On roads without sidewalks, runners will need to run facing traffic and stick to the side of the road, not in the middle of the roads.
Run Course
10K
The 10K Course starts on Spruce Street by Pack’s Tavern and makes a right on College Street and then a left on Oak Street. From there you’ll run on various streets through downtown Asheville, including Central Avenue, Charlotte Street, Kimberly Avenue and Country Club Road. You’ll pass through the beautiful Grove Park neighborhood and then make your way back via North Market Street and then to Spruce Street for the GRAND FINISH! 5K
The 5K Course is the same course as last year! It also starts on Spruce Street and makes a right onto Colllege Street and winds through Oak Street, Central Avenue, Charlotte Street and Evelyn Place. You’ll head back on North Market Street and finish back at Spruce Street for the GRAND FINISH! For turn by turn directions, click on the GPS Route.

We will have one water station on the course. Gatorade, Water, hot chocolate and JAMBARs will be provided at the finish.

Rules for the Resolution Run
• All participants are expected to display courteous, professional behavior at all times.
• No rollerblades allowed.
• Please be courteous to other foot traffic on the course.
• No alcohol is allowed at the park.
• Runners are required to use the sidewalks. The roads will not be closed to traffic for this event.

VIRTUAL
Run a 5K or 10K on your own time! The virtual event is a great option to train for and compete in from wherever you like! You can run or walk your 5k or 10k from anywhere in the world, whenever it’s convenient for you, and submit your results to our official standings.
Please note: YOU CANNOT RUN YOUR VIRTUAL RUN DURING THE IN-PERSON EVENT. Transfers to the virtual event during the week of the event will cost $10.
Virtual Event Highlights:
- Every virtual participant will receive a FREE Resolution Run shirt (until the December 10th deadline) and commemorative finisher mug with their registration.
- Virtual race swag will be mailed FREE after the in-person event on January 1st.
PACKET PICK-UP
Pre-event Shipping Option
If you’re looking to skip the lines at packet pickup, this is the option for you! You’ll have your shirt and bib shipped to you approximately 1 1/2 to two weeks before the event so all you have to do is show up and run. This option is available for $15 either during registration or from the race Store, through December 10th at midnight.
PLEASE NOTE: The shipment will go to the address you register with. If you need to update that address, email us at support@idaph.net.

RUNNING FOR A GOOD CAUSE
We’re about hope, not heartache. As Buncombe County’s critical safety net since 1984, we are always here to save and protect every animal. We have mastered the art of saving lives within our walls and now we are going even further, helping our community’s pets and their people thrive together. We are going beyond a no-kill community to ensure that each animal has the quality of life they deserve – a life worth living.

THINGS TO DO IN ASHEVILLE
There are many fun things to do in downtown Asheville, however, if you’re looking for something to do after the event, please keep in mind that many businesses will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Pack’s Tavern, which offers an indoor and outdoor sit-down dining experience, is located on Spruce Street close to the start and finish area. They will open at noon and serve food and drinks, along with adult beverages.

Follow I-40 E and I-240 E to US-74 ALT E/Patton Ave in Asheville. Take exit 4B from I-240 E.
FROM NORTH OF ASHEVILLE:
Follow I-26 E/US-19 S/US-23 S toward Asheville, Take the Patton Avenue exit on the left toward Downtown and continue onto US-74 ALT E/Patton Ave.
FROM EAST OF ASHEVILLE:
Follow I-40 W. Take I-240 W to US-70 E/Charlotte St in Asheville. Take exit 5B from I-240 W, Continue on US-70 E/Charlotte St. Take College St to N Pack Square.
FROM SOUTH OF ASHEVILLE:
Follow I-26 W to US-74 ALT E/Patton Ave in Asheville. Take exit 4B from I-240 E, Continue onto US-74 ALT E/Patton Ave.

Volunteering is a great way for you to support and cheer on your friends and family members, as well as support the local athletic community! Volunteers will get a complimentary shirt to express our gratitude for your time and energy!

DEFERRALS, TRANSFERS AND CANCELATION POLICIES
Did you register to participate in-person but can’t make it on race day? You don’t have to miss out! You can transfer your registration to the virtual event at any point before the start of the race. In the virtual event, you’ll run anywhere you like, post your results, and have your swag mailed to you after the event.
TRANSFERS: All participants can transfer into the virtual version of their event up until the start of the event. Email support@idaph.net to request the transfer. There will be no refunds for the price difference between events. Transfers during the week of the event will cost $10 (beginning Monday, December 25th.)
Transfers between participants are prohibited. Participants who run with another runner’s bib will be automatically DQd and bandits will be banned from future iDaph events.
REFUNDS: We have a small, but mighty team that is working on all the details to produce this event safely for you and everyone in our community in attendance. We are incurring the expenses for production well before the day of the event, and we will not be able to provide a refund to you should you want to cancel your registration, or if the event itself has to be cancelled due to a change in the status of the pandemic, weather, an act of god, or other unforeseen circumstance.
DEFERRALS: We do not allow deferrals from race to race. If you’re unable to make it on race day, you may switch to the virtual option.
CANCELLATION: In the event of an unforeseen circumstance, such as an emergency, an act of god, not receiving approval of final event permits, or change in pandemic status resulting in the inability to have the in-person event, we reserve the right to cancel the event and automatically convert all in-person registrations to the virtual option. Should this occur, your swag will be mailed to you for free.
