The South Asheville Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving tradition that brings together local residents and visitors alike for a morning of festive fun and fitness. Nestled in the picturesque backdrop of Biltmore Park in Asheville, NC, this event combines the spirit of the holiday season with a healthy dose of community camaraderie. Participants of all ages gather to run, walk, or trot while showcasing their enthusiasm and holiday-themed costumes. Whether you're a seasoned runner or simply looking to burn off some pre-Thanksgiving calories, the South Asheville Turkey Trot is a heartwarming way to kick off the holiday season.

Asheville Poverty Initiative
(12 Baskets Cafe)
All are welcome to 12 Baskets Café! Located at 610 Haywood Rd in West Asheville, our café is open to everyone. All are encouraged to come and have conversations with their neighbors. At 12 Baskets Café, we embrace all walks of life—those facing hunger, seeking belonging, or eager to help. We are community-powered, using 100% rescued food in a space where everyone contributes as they can.
We are open for sit-down meals and groceries every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM. You can come for a free, delicious, hot lunch four days a week and leave with whatever groceries you need. We have grown to serve 600+ community members through meals and grocery boxes every week. While the food is donated, it costs Asheville Poverty Initiative a little over $10 per plate to cover costs like rent and utilities.
It is the mission, duty and purpose of iDream Athletes Foundation to provide opportunities for Western North Carolina youth and adults who are unable to pay for sporting event fees, coaching, travel expenses and/or equipment to train for and/or participate in our WNC sporting events. This tax-exempt non-profit provides needs-based scholarships. The amounts to be gifted are determined on a case-by-case basis through a criteria-selection process.
