Don’t miss the 2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Run 5K and 10K presented by Hunter Subaru. The race is set for Saturday, December 4th at the Riveter in Mills River, NC! Ugly Sweaters and holiday cheer are strongly encouraged!
Join iDaph Events for a festive 5K and 10K hosted by the Riveter, the nation’s premier indoor climbing gym, bike park, and wellness arena. The courses start at the Riveter and run along scenic and rural paved and farm roads, and return to the Riveter for even more merriment. There’ll be delicious food, drinks, and refreshments (including adult beverages and coffee), and plenty of activities including a premier bike park and a climbing wall.
The races include something for everyone! A 5k, and a 10k (double loop)! Everyone gets a cozy, ugly-sweater t-shirt, a Hunter Subaru swag bag, and a finisher Christmas ornament! All levels and abilities are welcome! Run a relaxed pace and take selfies, OR run your heart out and try to get a personal best!
What an amazing event! It felt so good to not only have a race on the calendar, but one that I knew would be organized and safe. iDaph communicates clearly about race protocol and event details…and makes some stellar race swag as well 🙂 I had a blast rockin my ugly sweater and enjoying some friendly competition. Unique course with race length options for all levels.

We are offering a virtual option for both the 5K and 10K
Wear the BEST Ugly Sweater and win a prize! The Riveter will be giving away prizes for a Costume Contest on Race Day. Take a photo and post it on social media, then tag @idaphevents and @riveternc and use hashtag #uglysweaterrun.

This is a family-friendly event! There is no age restriction, but children under 10 years old should be accompanied by an adult. While we expect little traffic on the rural roads and course, it is open to vehicular traffic, this is not a closed course.
At the Riveter
The Riveter has a variety of activities for you and your family. Check out the climbing wall and bike park. Grab a delicious lunch from a food truck, and a delicious hot beverage from Bare Bones Brew Haus.
AWARDS & RESULTS
Green Moose Fuel will host the Water Station! 5k: mile 1.5 and 10k: mile 1.5 and mile 4.5.
The Ugly Sweater 5K & 10K are 3.1 & 6.2 miles of festive awesomeness. You’ll start at the Riveter and run along rural paved roads, scenic farm roads, and return to the Riveter for even more merriment. While we expect little traffic on the rural roads and course, it is open to vehicular traffic, this is not a closed course. The 10K will do the same loop from the Riveter twice, twice the miles, twice the beautiful scenery!
Rules for the Ugly Sweater Run
• All participants are expected to display courteous, professional behavior at all times.
• No rollerblades allowed.
• Runners will run facing traffic on the paved sections of the course. While we expect little traffic on the rural roads, they are open to car traffic. No running in the middle of the road!
• Please be courteous to other foot traffic on the course.
SUPER AWESOME SWAG
We want you to join our 10K & 5K Training Program! Whether you are a first-timer or a returning part of the Fleet Feet Fam, runner or walker, or just looking for some group camaraderie we have built a program that is:
• Led by passionate and knowledgeable coaches
• Championed by dedicated and magnetic mentors
• Guided by the most relevant COVID safety standards
• Supported by the coolest partners and brands
• Fueled by the determination of its participants
Our Training Schedule:
• Thursdays at 6:30 pm - Fleet Feet Asheville or other Asheville location - Workout Varies (Hill repeats, track work, etc)
• Saturdays at 8:00 am – Fleet Feet Asheville or other Asheville location - Long Run.
• September 20th - Program starts
• November 25th - South Asheville Turkey Trot 5K
• December 4th - The Ugly Sweater Run 5k/10k
Run a 5K or 10K on your own time! Virtual participants will have access to the course information for the event so they can have a ‘self-serve’ event experience on the same courses as the in-person runners. Or, they can come up with their own course anywhere! Virtual participants get to challenge themselves by participating and having a goal to work towards. Please note: You cannot run the virtual option on Race Day. Transfers to virtual during the week of the event will cost $10.
Virtual Event Highlights:
• All Virtual participants will receive a free Ugly Sweater shirt and a super-cool finisher ornament.
• Participants in the virtual event can make multiple attempts to improve their time! Results must be submitted via Race Roster online.
You’ll have two options to pick up your race packets this year.
1. Pre-event packet pick-up will be at Hunter Subaru, 220 Hunter Airport Drive, Fletcher, NC 28732 on Friday, December 3 from 3-5PM. We highly suggest you pick up your packet early for a less hectic experience on race day.
2. Race Day packet pickup - 7am-8am inside the Riveter.

Want to skip Packet Pickup? Easy-peasy, you can have your race number and shirt mailed to you. Just pick the ‘ship your swag’ option when you register online. Deadline to opt in for this option is Sunday, November 13th at midnight.
Catalyst Sports is a chapter based, volunteer run, 501c3 non-profit organization that acts as an agent of change in the lives of people with disabilities and our communities. Adventure sports provide a fun and exciting platform for challenging ourselves mentally, physically and emotionally. When this challenge takes place alongside a supportive and encouraging community of people, we all discover our abilities, our need for each other and the importance of living active and healthy lives.

VIRTUAL EVENT AWARDS
The top overall male and female finishers in the Virtual Event will also receive a top-finisher prize. Results must be submitted online through Race Roster by Sunday, December 5th at midnight to be eligible for overall prizes and awards.

POST RACE ACTIVITIES/celebrations
When you complete the 5K or 10K, check out the Riveter for plenty of fun activities, food and refreshments!
The Riveter in Mills River offers a climbing wall, bike park, a yoga studio, and more. Visit their website for details on all they have to offer. Post race chair massages, bring some cash for tips. Stretch and yoga for athletes at the Riveter will be at 10 AM.
There will be a food truck at the event with delicious food options, a gourmet coffee truck, and the bar opens at 11 am with specials on tap. DJ Rut Jut will be entertaining us at the finish line this year!
Participants will receive a discounted bike park pass for the day. Check out the Riveter’s Bike Park and check it out with family and/or close friends. The Bike Park is great for all levels!
RUNNING FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Partial proceeds from this race will benefit the iDream Athletes Foundation.
It is the mission, duty and purpose of iDream Athletes Foundation to provide opportunities for Western North Carolina youth and adults who are unable to pay for sporting event fees, coaching, travel expenses and/or equipment to train for and/or participate in our WNC sporting events. This tax-exempt non-profit provides needs-based scholarships. The amounts to be gifted are determined on a case-by-case basis through a criteria-selection process.
In addition, we will assist in fueling the growth for local running, cycling and multi-sport champions, teams, clubs, locally owned stores and communities in Western North Carolina by providing resource and financial support when conducting our key activities.

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
The Riveter is located in Mills River, North Carolina, and is near the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and nextdoor to the Asheville Airport.
FROM HWY 280, Turn onto Ferncliff Park Drive, At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto Old Fanning Bridge Rd. Almost immediately after this turn onto Old Fanning Bridge Road, a volunteer or police will assist you with parking in a gravel lot beside the Riveter.

There is ample parking at the Riveter. Please drive slow and with caution when arriving and leaving the parking areas as they will be open to the public and runners will be running the course while you may be parking or leaving the race.
DEFERRALS, TRANSFERS AND CANCELATION POLICIES
Above all else, we are striving to make this event as safe as it can possibly be for all our participants, volunteers, and staff. If you’re feeling unwell (or uncomfortable participating), we want you to be able to stay home and join us next year without feeling like you’re losing out. In order to make that happen, we are allowing everyone to transfer their registration to the virtual event at any point before the start of the race. In the virtual event, you’ll run anywhere you like, post your results, and have your swag mailed to you after the event.
REFUNDS: We have a small, but mighty team that is working on all the details to produce this event safe for you and everyone in our community in attendance. We are incurring the expenses for production well before the day of the event, and we will not be able to provide a refund to you should you want to cancel your registration, or if the event itself has to be cancelled due to the pandemic, weather, or an act of god.
TRANSFERS: All participants can transfer into the virtual version of their event up until the day of the event. There will be no refunds for the price difference between events. There will be no refunds for the price difference between events. Transfers during the week of the event will cost $10.
CANCELLATION: As we all know the pandemic changes things quickly! We ask that you be flexible and patient as we may have to adjust things for this event up until the event takes place. In the event that the U.S. or NC government declares a new stay-at-home order or places new restrictions on gatherings and we are not able to have the in person event, all in-person event registrations will automatically be converted to the virtual event. If it gets switched to a virtual event, you will have your swag mailed to you for free.
