Additional Info:
What do we do at a water station?
You will be filling up water cups, gatorade and/or Untapped Mapleaid in cups throughout the race, handing these out to runners, distributing gels and picking up the cups/trash around the station throughout the race.
How do we set up and serve at our water station?
- You will need to mix the gatorade powder into a 5 gallon container. You will have powder and a stir stick. The Gatorade should be diluted to about ½ of what is suggested on the can! Otherwise it is too sweet! Note; if the lid is too tight of the 5 gallon container the faucet will not work properly.
- You will have a plastic bin that has some water station supplies in it. Look thru that when you arrive so you know what is in there.
- Follow instructions on the easy Quick Guide for set-up and serving.
- There will be safety vests in your water station buckets that you can put on while volunteering if you aren’t in a costume/festive/fun garb.
In case of Emergency - Dial 911, then call/text me to update. In an instance of a runner having a non-emergency injury or wanting to drop out of the race, please call or text me (828) 450-7514, so we can arrange pick-up.
- If you have an AED, please bring it with you to your water station.
It is very important to arrive early to get your cups filled and ready.
- Have a portable speaker? Bring some Music! If you have a portable speaker and want to have music, go for it! The more lively the better.
- What should I bring? Bring layers, check the weather and be prepared, bring a snack, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray and a COWBELL if you have one!
- The race is RAIN OR SHINE!
Wrapping up and packing up: Please pick up trash - cups and gel and granola bar wrappers within one mile radius of your water station. Stack leftover items together and neatly for pick-up. We will have a truck that will come pick up your stack of leftover items and your supplies when you are finished. Please contact Daphne at (828) 450-7514 when you are about 10-15 minutes away from being ready to have your items picked up so that we can send the truck your way. We don’t want to leave the supplies unattended.
