RACE START & COURSE DESCRIPTION

5K RACE START: 7:30am

The 5K Run/Walk is a timed out-and-back route on the Ecusta Trail, beginning and ending at the Hendersonville Welcome Center. This route highlights the completed Hendersonville section of the Ecusta Trail, a former railroad corridor thoughtfully transformed into a wide, paved shared-use greenway.

The 5k turnaround for walkers/joggers will be clearly marked at Southern Streams Coffee House.

WATER STATION
There will be one water station on the course located at Southern Streams at Mile 1.5. It will include portajons and free refreshments (water, Gatorade and snacks.)

The One Mile Fun Run/Walk is an untimed out-and-back route on the Ecusta Trail, beginning and ending at the Hendersonville Welcome Center. This short course also highlights the completed Hendersonville section of the Ecusta Trail.

The 1 mile turnaround will be clearly marked between Kanuga and Spring Street.

DOG FRIENDLY? The Railway Races are dog-friendly. Dogs are permitted but must be on a short leash at all times. Participants are responsible for their pets and must yield to other trail users.

PARKING

Parking for the Railway Races will consist of a combination of existing downtown public parking options and dedicated bike parking.

1. Street Parking – Downtown Hendersonville

Use on-street public parking throughout Downtown Hendersonville, within walking distance of the event start/finish area. Downtown provides ample street parking along Main Street and surrounding side streets, routinely used for community events and weekend activity. There are 265 on-street paid parking spaces in Downtown Hendersonville within the Main Street Municipal Services District. There are also more than 400 free on-street parking spaces along the border created by Church Street, King Street, Allen Street and 7th Avenue or a short walk beyond.

2. Public Parking Garage

The City of Hendersonville Parking Deck is conveniently located at 418 N. Church Street directly across from the public restrooms and a few steps from beautiful Main Street. The four-level, 253-space structure offers four EV charging stations, accessible parking, and offers space for paid parking and permitted parking.

3. Bike Parking

Participants are encouraged to ride their bikes to the event. A designated bike parking area will be provided near the event hub. Participants who arrive by bike will receive a special Ride to Race sticker as a thank-you for choosing a sustainable transportation option.
