We will have 650++ runners pass thru here at mile 5... so be ready!
Water Station #1: Fleet Feet: Mile 5 of the Half Marathon at Sabine and Robinson (in Laurel Park) - right off of Laurel Park Highway.
Video showing location: https://app.box.com/s/
Google map to get to your spot - Water Station #1 - Sabine and Robinson: https://goo.gl/maps/
-
All your water station supplies will be dropped off to you on race morning.
-
Water Station #1 Fleet Feet at Sabine and Robinson: Drop off time at 6:30am
-
Water Station #1: Expect first runners at 7:45am and Last runners at 9:45am (there will be a sweeper!)
-
You will need to mix the gatorade powder into a 5 gallon container. You will have powder and a stir stick. The Gatorade should be diluted to about ½ of what is suggested on the can! Otherwise it is too sweet! Note; if the lid is too tight of the 5 gallon container the faucet will not work properly.
-
**NEW**You will also have another 5 gallon container this year that you can mix the 'untapped' drink in. That way you have two electrolyte choices.
-
You will have a plastic bin that has some water station supplies in it. Look thru that when you arrive so you know what is in there.
-
Set your garbage can out past the water station so that folks can throw their empty cups and gel wrappers in it when they run beyond your tables.
-
Spread the tables out - I would suggest you have a table filled with cups with water, a table filled with cups with gatorade and then a table with snacks.
-
Stay ahead of the crowds of runners. Have someone constantly refilling cups and making more batches of gatorade if needed.
-
The cups should be filled ½ way to ¾ way full - if they are filled to the top the water will slosh out of the cups.
-
We are providing a pitcher for you to use. You can put gloves on and then dip the pitcher in the top of the 5 gallon water jug for easy pouring.
-
Depending on how many volunteers you have you will want someone constantly replenishing water in the cups on the tables, replenishing gatorade, someone handing out water and someone picking up and cleaning up throughout. The gels and snacks can stay on the tables and runners can pick these up if they stop and want to grab one.
-
Please pick up any cups, gel and granola bar wrappers around your station while the race is happening.
-
You will have a variety of Untapped gels to put out. Once they are gone, they are gone. We don’t have any more to refill or replenish.
-
Please bring your own tent and an extra table or two if you have them.
-
Music is always a plus! If you have a portable music device, please bring with you and play some tunes!
-
There are portajons at your water station.
-
If you run out of water in your jugs:
-
Fleet Feet - there is not any water access near you unless you go to a house nearby to fill up.
-
If you see someone that is having an emergency situation please call 911, then call or text me (828) 450-7514 an update. Don’t call me first. If someone is dropping out of the race and needs to be picked up, have them wait at your water station and we will send someone to pick them up.
-
The Event Guide has all the race maps, and race weekend info.
Wrapping up and packing up: Please pick up trash - cups and gel and granola bar wrappers within one mile radius of your water station. Stack leftover items together and neatly for pick-up. We will have a box truck that will come pick up your stack of leftover items and your supplies when you are finished. Please contact me (828) 450-7514 when you are about 10-15 minutes away from being ready to have your items picked up so that we can send the truck your way.
Drop off time is 7:30am // arrival time for volunteers is 7:45AM
Welcome Osceola Lake Volunteers!
Welcome to the 5th Annual Jump off Rock Half Marathon & 10k presented by Hunter Subaru and Pardee UNC Health on Saturday, May 10, 2025! Thank you for signing up to help us on race weekend.
The half marathon starts at the top of Jump off Rock at 7:30am and has rolling starts until 7:45am. There are 650+ half marathoners. The 10k has approximately 250 runners and their mass start at the YMCA is at 8:30am. Both races finish in Downtown Hendersonville near Mast General Store.
First, the fun stuff --- Dress up! Bring out the costumes, wear silly and fun/festive attire, bring a bluetooth speaker and crank up the music, etc, this is a fantastic event to get dressed up and be part of the vibe and spirit! The runners are excited for this event and we are all soooo grateful for your help and support on race day! Let's keep the energy and excitement HIGH ALL DAY ON RACE DAY for all these runners! THEY will remember YOU and all the support and fun energy you bring on race day.
The Event Guide has all the race maps, and race weekend info.
Arrive by 7:45am to get set up - we will drop off the water station supplies to you on Saturday morning at this time!
Parking is available on the far left side of the portajons. Please do not block the entrance/exit to the DAM! If you live nearby - please walk to the station!
We expect the first half marathon runners to arrive around 8:15am at your station. It will be busy! You should be all wrapped up around 11-11:30am.
It will be difficult to get in/out of the water station location when the race is taking place due to all the runner traffic on the roads.
Location: The water station is located at Osceola Lake Dam - here is the google map link for directions - https://goo.gl/maps/UP1QNGuuK7ABtzkR7
Here is a video of the location - https://app.box.com/s/bqjpzwjysj97bsifiyuli31au2wee127
There are portajons at your water station.
What do we do at a water station?
You will be filling up water cups, gatorade and Untapped Mapleaid in cups throughout the race, handing these out to runners, distributing gels and picking up the cups/trash around the station throughout the race.
How do we set up and serve at our water station?
- You will need to mix the Gatorade powder into a 5-gallon container. The Gatorade should be diluted to about ½ of what is suggested on the can! Otherwise, it is too sweet! Note; if the lid is too tight of the 5-gallon container the faucet will not work properly.
- You will have a plastic bin that has some water station supplies in it. Look thru that when you arrive so you know what is in there.
- Follow instructions on the easy Quick Guide for set-up and serving.
- There will be safety vests in your water station buckets that you can put on while volunteering if you aren’t in a costume/festive/fun garb.
Your water station captain needs to be at your water station to receive all of your water station supplies and to begin all of the set up. It is very important to arrive early to get your cups filled and ready.
- Want your own company/business branded tent? Bring your own tent/tent weights! We do not provide tents at water stations.
- You can also bring your own boombox/music // decorations // costumes// etc. We HIGHLY recommend wearing something fun or your company logo’d branded items!
In case of Emergency - Dial 911, then call/text me to update. In an instance of a runner having a non-emergency injury or wanting to drop out of the race, please call or text me (828) 450-7514, so we can arrange pick-up. We do have medical on-site in Downtown that is available to come to the lake on UTV if needed.
- If you have an AED, please bring it with you to your water station.
Getting low on water? If you only have one blue water jug left… and there is still a lot of time left in the race, please go to one of your nearby homes to fill up in your faucet to get more water! Please do not wait until you have run out of water to get more water.
- Have a portable speaker? Bring some Music! If you have a portable speaker and want to have music, go for it! The more lively the better.
- What should I bring? Bring layers, check the weather and be prepared, bring a snack, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray and a COWBELL if you have one!
- The race is RAIN OR SHINE!
Wrapping up and packing up: Please pick up trash - cups and gel and granola bar wrappers within one mile radius of your water station. Stack leftover items together and neatly for pick-up. We will have a box truck that will come pick up your stack of leftover items and your supplies when you are finished. Please contact Kevin at (336) 687-4065 when you are about 10-15 minutes away from being ready to have your items picked up so that we can send the truck your way. We don’t want to leave the supplies unattended.
Thank you again for your help and support! Let's just make these runners day and help them to have a blast on Saturday! My cell is (828) 450-7514. Please call or text on race day if you have questions.

Assist with set up of tents and assist with directional support when the runners start arriving. The runners will start closer to the rock -- they will not start on Beechwood Circle. You will turn the runners down this street when the races start. You will also be an informational source for the runners when they show up. They will ask you where the bib pickup is if they missed it the day prior. They will also ask you where the start line is and portajons so be familiar with the area. There is no parking at the JOR spots near the rock this year EXCEPT for the few volunteers/staff that need to park there. You can park on Beechwood down the road just a bit (off to the side) - when runners all leave - assist with breaking down the start line/tents/etc and packing things up with the other volunteers and crew
