Etowah Time Trial is a quiet, mostly flat 20k (12.4 mi) which gently curves down scenic River Road in Etowah to Pleasant Grove, which turns into Tally Road, and then back. It’s a great time trial for riding Aero position and for setting a personal record in the mountains while hopping between Henderson and Transylvania Counties. Riders must obey all traffic laws out on the course.
Elk Mountain is a challenging 5 mile one-way hill climb race with scenic switch backs along Elk Mtn Hwy in Asheville, NC. Course open to traffic. Riders responsible for turning around at the top and riding back to the start. Be aware of fast downhill section on the return and obey all traffic laws. Start is at the intersection of Elk Mtn Hwy and Tsali Trail. Rider line up will be along Tsali Trail.
The Climb the Quarry Time Trial will start near the entrance of the Grove stone Sand & Quarry in Black Mountain at 11:30am on Saturday, September 17th. There will be ample parking close to the start of the event. This event will take place in collaboration and at the conclusion of the Rock the Quarry 5k running event.

The 5 mile hill climb course starts on fine-gravel, open roads that are a false flat. The gravel road will turn into a wooded section for a short time where there are some larger gravel pieces and some grassy areas. The road will open back up onto a gravel road and gradually climb to the top of the quarry where riders will summit to the finish.
Cyclocross bikes or Mountain Bikes are appropriate for this event. Road bikes are not recommended.
Riders will finish 5 miles from the start line and will ride their bikes back to the start line upon finishing their event. No spectators are permitted at the top of the climb/finish area. If you want to see the spectacular finish in the quarry you will need to sign up to participate in the event!
